In the Student Diversity Advice, The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) states that ‘Gifted and talented students are entitled to rigorous, relevant and engaging learning opportunities drawn from the Australian Curriculum and aligned with their individual learning needs, strengths, interests and goals’. Yet, according to ACER, ‘students at both ends of the achievement spectrum are failing to achieve their potential because a one-size-fits-all approach means that neither high-achievers nor underperformers were being challenged appropriately’. In the digital era, how are teachers engaging technology to support high potential, gifted learners in mixed ability classroom whilst ensuring that they, themselves, do not experience burn-out.
The Teachers’ Guild and Gifted Families Support Group Inc. poses this challenge and is calling for educators to unite and share their visions, reflections and experiences for a free professional learning and networking opportunity.
